The Context True community transformation is impossible without a foundation of health. Young people in our region navigate complex landscapes, facing severe challenges that range from high HIV/AIDS prevalence to the often-overlooked crises of mental health, gender-based violence, and inadequate menstrual hygiene resources.
Our Approach SEP tackles these issues head-on by transforming our established youth networks into safe, stigma-free spaces for critical health dialogues. We believe that informed youth make safer, healthier decisions. By integrating health messaging directly into our sports and mentorship programs, we ensure vital medical information is highly accessible, culturally resonant, and engaging rather than clinical and intimidating.
Our intervention is deeply rooted in peer-to-peer education. We facilitate open, informed discussions on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and actively champion emotional well-being by providing psychological first aid training. Because education must be paired with access, SEP acts as a crucial bridge in the community, establishing strong referral networks to ensure vulnerable youth receive immediate access to professional medical, psychological, and social services when they need them most.
