For decades, agriculture in our region has been viewed by the youth merely as an exhausting obligation for survival. But true community resilience requires shifting that narrative from survival to prosperity.
Rural families were trapped in a cycle of poverty, relying heavily on vulnerable, subsistence-level farming. Unpredictable weather patterns and a lack of modern technical knowledge left households struggling with severe food insecurity and stagnant incomes.
SEP’s targeted agriculture initiatives brought climate-smart farming techniques directly to the community. Families were equipped with drought-resistant seeds, localized technical training, and modern strategies for crop management.
"I don't just farm to survive anymore. I run a profitable business that feeds my family and supports my entire household."
The shift has been monumental. 150 families have successfully transitioned to modern, high-yield agribusiness. They are now growing highly nutritious crops, vastly improving their household food security, and earning reliable income by implementing value-addition processing for the local market.
